The period of the Holocaust was a terrible time. It took place from 1939 to 1945. When Hitler came into power he killed many people, most of which were Jews. Many people and countries stood by and did nothing while the Holocaust was occurring, but Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Per Anger, and Oskar Schindler risked their lives to stand up for the Jewish people and what was right. Dietrich Bonhoeffer did not support the Nazi’s. He stood up against them to show what was right. When he was offered parish posts he refused them in protest of the racist policy because they were not given to the Jews. He also resisted the Nazi regime which caused him to get arrested. He†¦show more content†¦Throughout the time there were death marches where the Jews marched long distances to death camps and some died along the way. Per Anger witnessed Jews going through a death march. The march he saw was from Budapest. He was in his car driving along side the Jews. The Jews in the marches starved so Per Anger distributed food to them as he was driving along side them, which in some cases saved lives. Oskar Schindler rescued Jews from being deported to concentration camps by getting them to work for him. He treated them all very well and they were all exempt from Auschwitz. He got arrested on charges of irregularities and favoring Jews. He set up factories in Krakow, home of about 60,000 Jews. The factories primarily had Jewish workers. He got permission to keep his factories if he moved them to Brunnlitz. There were 700 men and 300 women deported to Auschwitz, when Schindler found out he got them released and sent to work for him. Oskar and his wife Emily both helped rescue Jews. Emily stopped a cattle car with 120 Jewish men in it and she convinced the SS officer that the men were needed for work. As a result the men were sent back to work for Oskar and Emily. Together they rescued over 1,000 Jews. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Per Anger and Oskar Schindler risked their lives during the Holocaust to stand up for the Jewish people and for what was right while other countries and people did nothing.
